After being a salesman in the apparel business over 5 years I thought I knew everything about the business so I would also open a retail store..... WRONG!!
I put my name on it and found the most popular styles with the latest trends.
But at that time, I didn't know about the budgeting or the accounting part.
It was a learning experience and I learned a lot -- mainly how I could lose money FAST.
Someone said if you want to make $1 million in apparel; start with $2 million.
My mistake was a big one. But if you're going to make a mistake, make it BIG!
Memorable! Remarkable!
Does that mean the rest of my career or life was 'mistake-proof'?
(You know me. What do you think?)
But I never gave up. And I was determined, even when I made another mistake,
once again I would make it with flair!
Like I aways say:
"When you're being run out of town,
get in front of the crowd and make it look like a parade."
If you are not making mistakes, you're playing it too safe or not taking enough chances.
BUT BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO LET YOUR PAST MISTAKES DEFINE YOU!
Like I always say, we learn from our mistakes.
I am even thinking of making some more!
Some of them might even turn out to be VERY beneficial!
