A Leader

Someone once said:
You’re not a leader until you have produced a leader. True leaders don’t create followers. They create more leaders.
What are the 3-rules of leadership?
1. LEAD BY EXAMPLE
2 . LEAD BY EXAMPLE
3 . LEAD BY EXAMPLE
Values are important. Albert Schweitzer once said: "Example is not the main thing in influencing others. It is the only thing."
The best leaders pay more attention to the principle than the crowd's opinions. Remember the old illustration: A good orchestra director always has his back to the crowd!
LEAD WITH ENCOURAGEMENT
When I started, my first job in sales with Quaker Oats Company, my boss told me he believed in me and thought that I had the talent and could do the job. But more importantly he said I had to believe in myself, and get our of my comfort zone. And boy . . . . did I! (Possibly I went to the extreme!)
In your own life, do you remember someone who believed in you and inspired you?
As a leader, you have an incredible opportunity to change someone's life every single day. Leadership is never about tearing people down, it's all about helping people become the very best version of themselves.
A LEADER LISTENS
Listening is really important . . . and pause before responding. Don't spend 'listening time' crafting a response. Using compassion and understanding, use words that demonstrate you actually heard the person and care.
A LEADER STAYS CALM
Don't respond with knee-jerk decisions! Contemplate the potential outcome and consequences. Lead with your heart -- not your emotions!
A LEADER IS RESILIENT!
Never give up. Naturally we all hit dead-ends. Don't be afraid to admit your plan didn't work.
Every leader is going to experience times when they hit roadblocks or a project fails. Inspiring leaders will learn from these situations and will bounce back from adversity.
Try not to throw blame around. Mistakes are stepping stones to success. Elon Musk said, 'Failure is always an option for me. Otherwise I may not have tried so hard to develop the next big thing'.
A great leader inspires others through vision and integrity, but most importantly, they lead with kindness and empathy, creating an environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to contribute their best.
Leaders should motivate others with the hope that one day they will say, "Thanks to you, I didn't give up."
