I remember the first day of second grade when my teacher asked the class what we did during the summer. When it was my turn, I proudly announced that my sister 'Linder" and I played ball, played badminton and pretended to be 'Cowboys and Indians' in our backyard. Of course -- I chose to be the one with the cheap white cowboy hat that was three sizes too big, and the gun holster that kept sliding down to my knees, as I chased 'Linder, the Indian', through the yard.

Then my teacher, clearly trying to keep things educational, asked again for the name of my sister. "Linder", I said. She asked how I spelled Linder and I puffed out my chest and confidently replied: L-I-N-D-A.

The entire class broke out laughing at me. That year, everyone kept asking me about my sister, Linder . . . .

That paved a way for her to follow me in Elementary School! (Sorry Linder!).

My sister has always been 'the Sweetest"! Even that day when I came home from Barber School and mom suggested I cut her bangs. (Remember, I was only eighteen years old and this was the first day of Barber School.)

But my sister forgave me after the second week of having to walk around school with her head slightly tilted, so no one would notice her crooked bangs.

When all is said and done, we had a wonderful childhood and I was blessed by one of the sweetest and kindest sisters in the world. And everyone who knows her will back me up on that!

Join me today in celebrating my sister's birthday!

SHE IS THE ONE PERSON WHO HAS TRULY KNOWN ME ALL MY LIFE . . . .

    AND STILL LOVES ME ANYWAY.

    Happy Birthday, "Linder"
