Rodney Dangerfield, the famous comedian alway started his routine with his signature line "I get No Respect" and followed with his jokes:
My psychiatrist told me I was crazy and I said I want a second opinion. He said okay, you're ugly too.
When I was a kid my parents moved a lot, but I always found them.
The way my luck is running, if I was a politician, I would be honest.
Respect means that you accept others for who they are, even when they're different from you or you don't agree with them. No one respects you because of your job title. They respect you for who you are and what you do. Treat everyone with respect, no matter what their station in life. Nobody is beneath you or above you.
Why is respect important?
Giving and receiving respect from others is important because it gives us the freedom and safety to express our thoughts. Respect in your relationships builds feelings of trust, security and well-being, and showing disrespect leads to failed relationships and friendships.
Love is something you give. Respect is something you earn. To show someone you love them, start by treating them with respect. Romance without respect is infatuation, not love.
Showing respect can be as simple as being polite. Include the use of polite words, such as Excuse me, Please and Sorry. Showing gratitude by saying Thanks shows regard for actions and gestures. Remembering others with texts, emails and phone calls can also show respect.
Respect for ourselves guides our morals. Respect for others guides our manners.
There is no respect for others without humility in one's self. Treating others with respect speaks volumes about you. For example, respect could be not interrupting friends who keeps bragging about their Cornhole victories . . . . . just after you lost in the finals!
Just saying!
Respect and courtesy are acts of compassion and caring. A little respect goes a long way.
Always approach a stranger with respect. It's contagious. Show others the respect you wish to receive.
Brighten somebody's day! Compliment someone’s hard work, listen a little more, and treat others the way you’d like to be treated. Your life and theirs will be better for it.
Here's the secret to life: be kind, be humble, and approach others with love, compassion,
and most of all R-E-S-P-E-C-T!
