I procrastinated my efforts to overcome procrastination.
Procrastination is a kind of escape in which you avoid a task by replacing it with other, more enjoyable activities. People who procrastinate often say, "I do my work at the same time each day — the last minute.”
Sometimes we procrastinate when we're low on energy, feeling overwhelmed by a very busy life, and when we've already used up all our enthusiasm. It may also be caused by fear of failure, imperfection, rejection, pain or feeling overwhelmed.
People procrastinate for many reasons, including:
Fear of failure: Sometimes we procrastinate to avoid negative outcomes that could result from completing a task.
Perfectionism: Perfectionists may spend a lot of time over-tweaking their work, which can delay completing a task.
Lack of motivation or structure: Often we procrastinate when we don't feel inspired to do a task, because we lose interest.
Anxiety: Anxiety can often gives a small problem a big shadow, making it more difficult to begin or finish a project.
A bit of encouragement or inspiration from someone can turn that mood around, changing your day into a productive one. If you don't get an inspiration from someone else, try giving one! As a matter of fact, I'm going to encourage someone tomorrow not to procrastinate!
But seriously, how do you overcome procrastination?
Make a plan
Break large tasks into smaller chunks
Hold yourself accountable
Set goals you can reach
Avoid distractions
Reward yourself
Nothing is so fatiguing as hanging on of an uncompleted task!
Now, I'm procrastinating about making this blog longer . . . . .
