Comparison is the crush of conformity on one side and comparison from the other side.
It's simultaneously trying to 'fit in' and 'stand out' at the same time. -Brene Brown
Even though we all may try not to compare our lives to others… WE DO! Comparing yourself to others can leave you feeling frustrated and anxious. And it doesn’t help in creating the life you want. Instead, it just takes away valuable time and energy.
This comparison is fueled even more today on social media where everyone's life looks like a blockbuster movie trailer. Your friends are on lavish vacations, sitting on beaches sipping their "little umbrella" drinks, while you're home watching your kids draw stick people on your kitchen wall with a purple crayon. Meanwhile, your last vacation consisted of binge-watching "Netflix" in your flannel PJ's and trying to identify the various species of dust bunnies under the couch.
Comparison kills creativity and joy. Be yourself, and give them something new to copy. Other people's lives seem better than yours because you're comparing their carefully edited highlight reel, to your behind-the-scenes bloopers. Do not compare yourself with others. If you do so, you are insulting yourself. Comparison is a thief of joy. (Reread this paragraph slowly!)
To quote Einstein: "Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid."
Your value does not decrease based on someone's inability to see your worth.
Don’t compare yourself to others. Compare yourself to the previous you.
