The Burning of Our House

A father and his two young sons were fishing in a very large lake, when suddenly a terrible storm came up and capsized their boat. They feared for their lives, struggled to upright the boat, and finally were able to climb back in it.

As they rowed back to the shoreline, the man saw his wife running toward the boat. Sobbing she said, "During that terrible storm, lightning struck our house and burned it to the ground. Everything we have worked for for thirt y-years has gone up in smoke. We have nothing left!"

He put his arm around her, and choked with emotion, he replied: "That storm capsized our boat, and even though we finally got the boat uprighted, we were so disoriented, we didn't know which way was back to the shore. In the distance, we saw a small glimmer of light, and we rowed toward that light:

THE BURNING OF OUR HOUSE SAVED OUR LIVES!

What about you? Have you had a job, a career, a relationship or a major situation in your life that didn't go your way? You thought your loss was devastating at the time, but later that loss turned out to be a blessing!

I know it's not easy but we have to have faith and trust what it says in Romans 8:28:

And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
