In the beginning . . .

This is the little house our family grew up in. It was located in Siler City, N.C. If you’re old enough to remember The Andy Griffith Show, you might have heard our little town frequently mentioned. After retiring from Hollywood, Aunt Bea, one of the main characters on the show moved to Siler City!

I always say jokingly that Aunt Bea and I are the only two famous people that have ever lived in Siler City!

Siler City was very near University of North Carolina and Duke. So if things had been different I could have actually attended one of these fine colleges. But a friend of mine reminded me that back then I couldn't even spell 'College' correctly. Also . . . . . UNC and Duke never invited me! But if I had gone -- think about how much smarter I would be!

But just because you go to Krispy Kreme, doesn’t make you a donut!

I have never let my lack of schooling interfere with my education.

You have to have the desire to improve. I started listening to cassettes and reading motivational books which encouraged and inspired me. I heard success stories from average people just like me who were motivated to became more successful.

Over and over again I heard these words: Most people have what it takes inside of them to better themselves

Sometimes all they need is to just to be reminded of it!

REMINDER! REMINDER! REMINDER!
